Sydney Airport is proud to support the launch of the new Jacaranda Women’s Hub, a safe and welcoming space for women in the local community who have experienced adversity.

Located in Pagewood, the hub offers a one-stop shop for women and families in need, combining soft-entry community programs such as art, sewing, playgroups, and parenting activities with access to trauma-informed support services including counselling, legal assistance, financial and housing support, and cultural programs for First Nations women.

The hub was made possible through proceeds from Sydney Airport’s 2023 Lost Property Auction alongside support from Bayside Council.

Bayside Women’s Shelter General Manager, Sallianne Faulkner, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone at Sydney Airport for supporting the Bayside Women’s Shelter board and management’s vision to support local women and help build a stronger community. Jacaranda Women’s Hub will provide a safe and supportive space for local women and we are very excited to see it open and commence its important work.”

Sydney Airport Group Executive - People & Corporate Affairs, Kristen Sweeney, said the hub was a meaningful project the airport was honoured to be part of. “We’re incredibly proud that funds raised through our Lost Property Auction have helped bring this important initiative to life. The Jacaranda Women’s Hub provides meaningful, practical support to women when they need it most, and it’s a privilege to be part of something that will have such a lasting impact in our community.”

Sydney Airport has a longstanding partnership with Bayside Women’s Shelter, which oversees the Jacaranda Women’s Hub.

As part of this partnership, the airport runs an annual donation drive during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Awareness Month in May, where staff collect essential items for the shelter. This year’s haul included non-perishable food, hygiene products, school supplies, baby goods, grocery store vouchers and cash donations. Read the full post here.

Kristen Sweeney said the hub is a powerful example of what can be achieved when business and community work together. “By investing in initiatives like Jacaranda Women’s Hub and continuing to support vital local services, we’re committed to making a positive difference in the lives of women and families in our area.”

These combined contributions are helping local women and children take the next steps toward safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing.
